Traditional dip tube units experience
a channelling effect of the media bed,
rendering them inefficient for water treatment.

As the bed continues to load with iron,
the service water and the backwash water
take the path of least resistance in the tank,
leaving much of the bed unused.

Initially they will remove iron from water,
however, because their is no effective method
for removing the accumulated iron from the unit,
the bed fouls. This is a hydrodynamic principle
of physics (Bernoulli's Principle)which is a
certainty, not a possibility.

and salt is wasted; in filters, iron passes
through and potassium permanganate (KMnO4)
is wasted.

In addition their is a blatant contradiction
between media bed backwash flow requirements,
and control valve backwash capability.
